Robert A Hansen great-grandfather of Michael and Matthew
Our roots in Nevada run deep. Born in Elko and raised in Reno, our family’s legacy in the region spans generations of working-class folk. Our great-great-grandfather, Gus Hansen, was a founder of a bar in Ogden, Utah. Tragically, two assailants beat and robbed him in 1914, causing his death. This left my great-grandfather, Robert A Hansen, then 17, and his younger brother, DeForrest, then 15, without a dad.
My great-grandfather Robert joined the Utah National Guard at 19 and served bravely in World War I. When he returned, he married Alvera Blanche Vizina, moved to Elko in 1921, and worked as a skilled sheet metal worker for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Our great-grandfather’s unwavering dedication to his work and family exemplified his strength of character. He and Vera raised six daughters, one son, and three grandchildren in Nevada, instilling the same values of perseverance and resilience that defined his life. It is this history that has profoundly influenced my career and personal life.
As a founder of Vestisure Insurance Services, I bring over 35 years of experience in the insurance industry to my current role. Successful ventures and leadership roles mark my career journey, and I am fortunate to have taken part in a series of business transformations and innovations. I co-founded multiple insurance agencies, including DiManno/Hansen Insurance, VIIA Insurance Services, and Asurea Insurance Services, which led to their successful acquisitions by larger firms.
Over the last three decades, I have applied systems and technology to greatly improve the cost and time required to underwrite new business and process claims. These improvements have benefitted millions of Americans who depend on getting benefits and coverage delivered faster.
However, these benefits have also come at a great cost in terms of personal service and quality advice. Robo-advisors have replaced qualified professionals, and algorithms have replaced claims adjusters for the average American. I have also witnessed the rapid consolidation of insurance agencies and companies, reducing consumer choice.
We created Vestisure, an independent agency, so our clients could receive the same personal service, unbiased advice, and attention to specific needs they used to receive.

Founding Vestisure has been a journey fueled by hard work and ambition, guided by brilliant mentors and top-notch banks, brokers, and insurance companies, all helping to shape the skills and values that make a best-in-class fiduciary.
It began at age thirteen when I landed my first part-time weekend job as a dishwasher/busboy. This early experience instilled the work-ethic that shaped my 30-year career on Wall Street. I’m an avid snowboarder and have conquered mountains on three continents. I’m also a proud father of three boys and a loving husband to my wife, Paloma. We now make our home in Sparks, Nevada, where I balance my professional commitments with family life and outdoor adventures.
I’m an alumnus of Stanford University, where I earned a B.A. in Quantitative Economics. I put my education to immediate use in 1991 by moving to New York City, where I spent the next three decades navigating the world of investment banking. My career included successful stints at Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers, and Swiss Re, where expertise and commitment helped my clients find the best solutions for their most challenging investment problems.
Early in my Wall Street career, I was fortunate to have a mentor named Bill Levy, who taught me the value of listening and understanding the needs of others. Valuing the perspectives of others honed my ability to manage client relationships and lead ever-larger investment teams. Eventually, I was heading Swiss Re’s Global Equity business.
Our journey at Vestisure began with a passion for bringing Wall Street-caliber service to American families. We provide the same service and advice that Wall Street reserves for its most prominent clients. The most fulfilling part of our work is witnessing how even modest adjustments to an insurance or investment plan can make a significant, positive difference for an entire family.
